Cliff Bayer has won the mens' foil World Championship Cup held in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Bayer crushed the defending champion Sergei Goloubitsky, by the incredible score of 15-6. Goloubitsky, of Ukraine, is ranked #1 in the world in men's foil. Bayer also had to handle Dimitri Chevtchenko of Russia, and did so by the comfortable margin of 15-10.

Bayer is the first American to ever win this event. He is instructed privately by Rutgers University Head Coach Yefim Litvan.
