- Notes

The overall quality of the action in this tournament was excellent.
Klapper, a wild and not previously exceptional fencer, turned in one of the most amazing performances this instructor has ever seen in a class tournament, beating many skilled and talented fencers in the process. He sucessfully climbed back from significant deficits many times in order to take the tournament, and he lost four touches simply from being forced off the end of the strip. Klapper showed admirable determination: he simply never gave up. Blood, sweat, and tears characterize his effort.
Poswinski, one of the class' better strategists, showed more speed and agressiveness here than in practice bouts and accordingly surprised some stronger fencers. He nearly became the tourney champion, but fell just short in an exciting and grueling bout with Klapper. His was an impressive display handed in by a well-rounded fencer.
Crook, a tourney co-favorite along with Dade, was frustrated by Klapper's tenacity in their semi-final bout, and eventually fell after a long and tedious struggle. Like Hailston and Miller in the previous class, she is a woman who combines speed, accuracy, and agressiveness to destroy her opponents.
Dade, a tourney co-favorite along with Crook, was ultimately unable to cope with Poswinki's strategic change to a thoroughly defensive posture mid-way through their semi-final bout. Frustration and fatigue eventually condemned her to defeat. Though she lacks exceptional speed, Dade is a highly-accurate, aggressive, thoughtful, and elegant fencer who always displays a truly beautiful form.
This tourney marks the first time that all favorites were female. Though surprised by the performances of the two male finalists, Crook and Dade continued to demonstrate that aggressiveness is the characteristic that most often proves the difference between good female fencers and exceptional female fencers. Crook and Dade are exceptional fencers.
