1998-1999 Season

1998.11.22 — Racers' Edge (Murray, KY)
Their were a few technical difficulties and some surprises that lengthened the fencing day but overall it was a great success. Not as large as previous tournaments but we know that will change.

Due to time limitations Sabre and Foil were fenced in one round. Epee was done the usual way with a seeding round and then a final 15 touch direct elimination.

Thanks go out to the MSU cheerleaders for ignoring us completely during the Sabre bouts and putting us and themselves in physical danger.

1997-1998 Season

1998.04.04-05 — Spring Steel (Murray, KY)
Saturday's sabre exhibition was "rained out" the night before and "froze out" the day of the event. Even so, some hard core renaissance people were seen out on Cutchin Field either totally drunk or dazed from the reported "pudding wrestling". The sabre was moved inside where we played at the game until we all yelled "uncle". It was very fun.

Sunday's foil and epee event went very well. Many old friends attended and electrical problems were few. The results of all can be seen below.

1984-1985 Season

1985.03 — Visitor's Open (Murray, KY)
This was a tournament hosted by the MSU Fencing Club to kick off a round of tournaments with the surrounding universities. The format was to be sort of a combination of individual and team competition with each group receiving points for individual awards. A "traveling trophy" was to be given the the school with the best overall score for the day. At this tournament SIU was the guest school and won the Traveling Trophy. It is still there today because no other tournaments were scheduled. What is that saying about "the best laid plans of mice and men". I know where that trophy is, I made it, I'm gonna get it back. :-}

The only result that was recorded was Elder, Tim — 2nd Sabre. :-}
