Judo is an international, competitive, recreational sport that originated in Japan. Though it resembles wrestling, the emphasis is on throwing the opponent to the ground. Judo is practiced worldwide and is a long-standing Olympic event.
The Three Rivers Martial Arts Academy Judo Club is a member of the United States Judo Association (USJA). Club members are certified by the USJA and are required to be a member. The USJA is the nation's largest judo organization and is fully recognized by United States Judo, Inc., the national governing body of judo.
The head judo instructor at Three Rivers Martial Arts academy is Kevin Boggess, shodan. The club adviser is Roland Oderra, yodan. Judo is practiced in an internationally accepted uniform. All class members are required to use the uniform during practice and play.
